Principal Craftsman - Thomas Eustace
Thomas has a solid foundation, appreciation and understanding of the craftsmanship of his happily chosen profession. The ideals of durability, functionality and aesthetic beauty have always been driving forces when he began as a journeyman apprentice and continues today.
Thomas was trained as a Tool & Die Maker while serving in the United States Navy Submarine Service. Upon completion of his military service, Thomas earned a business degree and turned his attention to fine woodworking and has been able to combine both business and the love of his craft.
In 2009 Thomas successfully completed the Photovoltaic Entry Level Certification course at Hudson Valley Community College.
In 2010 Thomas succesfuly completed the EPA Certified Renovator Course. Certified Renovator status allows Thomas to engage in lead safe renovation, repair, and paint work in pre-1978 housing and in child-occupied facilities where such work will disturb lead-based paint.
Master Craftsman - Boyd Hutchison
Boyd Hutchison's passion for trees, forests and wood led him to Penn State for a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management, a Master of Science at Colorado State in Forest Hydrology and a PhD in Forest Meteorology from Yale. From there he pursued a 26 year career in forestry research.
Retirement from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration allowed him to become a full-time woodworker.
His new avocation allowed for his long and very important relationship with Shaker Museums around the country. At present Boyd works with the Shaker Museum and Library in Old Chatham, New York and Mt. Lebanon in New Lebanon, New York.
